We actually started feeding them alfalfa pellets and bermuda hay to cut down on the waste this time of year. Come spring, when the alfalfa hay is first and second cut, we will probably go back to that but in the meantime, it's just too stemmy and they waste it. The horses thought that was pretty cool because they got the stems but they just don't need it.Candy C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/07863818451136277378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-628662603932607754.post-59814790028294084882013-01-15T10:17:33.533-06:002013-01-15T10:17:33.533-06:00LOL! Poor goats are starving to death trying to knock the fence down to get to that branch while the hay feeder stands full and lonely. So guess who is out in the below freezing cold chopping up pine for her goats? I opened a square bale and it had nice green grass in it and smelled great. Blaat, blaat, blaat. The sheep came running out to find out when I was going to REALLY feed them. Chickie takes his displeasure out by trashing the barn and ripping down the hay feeders.
