Seems he caught a nail & tore himself up pretty well. She took him to the vet, & asked if he could repair the buck "so he could relieve himself". The vet must have thought she was being polite, because he stated bluntly the the buck wouldn't be able to service the does. My daughter asked again, can the tear be repaired so the buck can relieve himself, & when the vet said, yes, but.... She cut him off, & asked how long the withdrawal time would be from the Medes he would use, before slaughter, & the vet said a couple of months. She asked the vet to neuter him as well, then the vet understood. The buck was about 300 lbs. he lived alone in the horse trailer out of sight & out of view of the does for 5 months, then they had some of the best ground meat ever. She gave it an extra 2 months to be sure all the hormone was out of the meat. The buck was gentle by disposition, having been bottle raised, so as the hormone diminished, she said he got more gentle& easier the handle.
