I've Comitted Myself

No, not to the crazy house, but to accomplishing a certain task before Thanksgiving.

Mama Pea made a comment several days ago about making our own aprons and Susan is gathering all the minions together to do a Sew Off!

I've had a pattern stashed in my fabric box for over a year now as well as some fabric that was meant for the eventually-I'll-get-around-to-doing-it apron.  I no longer have an excuse for not putting scissors to pattern and thread to fabric.
Which one, which one?  It may take me a week just to decide.
If you'd like to take part of the Sew-Off! just click (<back there) and leave a comment on Susan's blog, e-i-e-i-omg! commiting yourself.  And when time's up, we'll all take pictures of our brand spanking new, made by us, going to make us all look beautiful serving up Thanksgiving dinner aprons and we can pat each other on the back and ooooo and ahhhhh at all the homemade aprons.

Come on, you KNOW you wanna do it!

  1. I committed myself when Susan first posted about the Great Apron Sew-Off but I've yet to dig out a pattern. You have given me the push to do so. I'll have to pull out a couple of patterns I have . . . one of which I think is hidden deep, deep in a back storage shed . . . and decide which I want to make. Soon as our morning frost melts, I'll croggle on back to the shed and see if I can find it.

  2. I love that green paisley fabric! I inherited some old aprons that my grandma and great-grandma made, which have come in handy these last few months. If I could change anything on them, though, I would give them larger pockets. I never thought I would need huge pockets on an apron, but man, I try to cram everything in there!

  3. I wish I could, but I have to sew a dog coat and finish so many other projects. It sounds fun though.

  4. Right. All I have to do is find my fabric stash. I know it's all in a box under a pile of other boxes, somewhere in the house. :)

    Love your patterns.

  5. I like the pattern on the right with the frilly shoulders! I have a pattern that I want to use, guess I better get some fabric picked out and get to sewing!

  7. Sewing is something I wish I could do...give me a crochet hook or knitting needle and I can go to town...but a needle and thread?! Forget it! Sounds fun though!
