Serve me caviar now, slave. An none of that cheap crap either. |
Congratulations, Susan!!
If you've never been to her blog, I HIGHLY suggest you do so; not only is she a kick in the pants (or in the unmentionables), but her Monday Musings will put your brain into overdrive wondering exactly HOW she comes up with some of the stuff she writes. Some from childhood memories, some from being stuck behind really S. L. O. W. moving vehicles, others just seem to pop in her head. Either that or there's an alien race beaming random words or images into her cranium and that's how she gets her inspiration. A Martian Muse? Who knows.
Oh wait, I'm rambling now. Anyhow, she's giving away two really neat books. I'm not going to tell you what they area because I want you to go over there and look for yourself, HA!
But since I am, in fact, going to put my name in the hat for the chance to win those books, I feel that I must also offer two books as I am trying to reduce the number of books in my own library.
Besides, I've already read them (just this past weekend) and they are such feel good books that I'd like to share them with someone else:
Of course, my favorite of the two is "Cat Stories", by James Herriot. If you've never read any of his books, this one will get you hooked. The other is "Animal Miracles" and is a collection of stories of just what the title implies. Another feel-good book and great for having on the nightstand for a few minutes of quick reading before you hit the hay.
Rules for the giveaway:
If you haven't already checked out Susan's blog, go over there and do so and become a follower! Don't worry, I won't check, I trust you. But even if you go over there and don't follow her blog, that's ok too. Oh, and for those of you that already follow her, you've already completed Step 1 of the Giveaway Requirements.
Tell me the names of your cats, past and present. And if you don't have any cats (shame on you!) tell me what you would name a cat if you did have one.
Open to US mailing addresses only. My official name-picker will draw the winning name from the comments on this post sometime on Sunday night and I'll post the winner on Monday.
Good luck!
P.S. - Susan, I hope you don't think I stole your thunder by posting another giveaway!
Hey! Im alreafy a follower of that crazy Susan! Oh, and my first and only cat is named Cash. Lol
ReplyDeleteCash-kitty, nice ring to it. :)
DeleteMy afternoon tea exited my nose on that photo caption...I have to remember to put down all things liquid when I read your posts....you are so sweet, you are. And NO I do not want more books - although I highly recommend the Herriot book, having read it a few dozen times. You didn't steal my thunder, m'dear, you just added some lightning!
ReplyDeleteSweet, you nuts? I LOVE Herriot's books; just stumbled upon them about a year ago.
Delete:) Great read. I'll head over and follow her too! Cat names... Poncho, Tristan, Priscilla (actually there have been 3 Priscilla's- two we named (at different times) and one we were given already named) Joey and I can't remember any others at the moment though I'm sure they have floated through our lives. :)
ReplyDeletePriscilla....Prissy for short? We have a friend who has a VERY Prissy kitty.
DeleteI have had two cats that helped me overcome a destroyed heart after a bitter breakup. Callie was a stray that helped show me how to love again, and now I have Taylor that I rescured from the pound. She spent months hiding behind my hanging clothes. She showed me how to trust again. Both kitties were key in me getting over my past. If I was given a choice between my cat and my dog... the kitty stays! I don't really need the books but I thought I'd share my kitty stories.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your kitty story. My cats bring so much joy into my life.
DeleteMy recent cat, rest in peace, was Tinkerbell, and a real sweetheart...
ReplyDeleteTinkerbell is such a cute name; hope she's enjoying her next adventure! :)
DeleteWe've never had an inside cat (don't hate me) but had two barn cats in Illinois . . . when we had a barn. One was all white and was Blizzard (how original can we get, huh?) and the other was K.R. which was short for Killer. That cat was the best mouser that ever lived. I'm sure she killed (and brought home) every mouse within a 5 mile radius of our place.
ReplyDeleteWhat??? You don't let your cats INSIDE!?!?
DeleteThat's it. I'm unfollowing you and blocking you from my blog! The heresy!
(uhm, please don't let this scare any others from commenting, I'm just being a smartarse)
I just ran out of new books to read. And if i win Susan's giveaway and then win yours, I would be set for a week or two!
ReplyDeleteI have read James Herriot before, but not this one. I love his stories ans look forward to reading this one.
Cat names: Luke is an orange tabby that I have had for about 11 years (indoor) and I just lost Boo late last year!
I'm a Cat and Dog kind of guy!
Tom
Your original comment showed up a spam, what's with that? Anyhow, glad to know you're also a keeper of kitties! Sorry to hear about Boo, but I'm sure he's on another wonderful and exciting adventure!
DeleteAll our cats have been named Kitty(so original) except 1 named Piwacket after a scarey show I watched one night.
ReplyDeleteI've been just WAITING for the special kitty to come into my life deserving of the name Pyewacket (sp?)! I LOVE that name!
DeleteMaybe this will work and maybe not - this is Gloria - you might have a chicken named after me!!! Cats names have been: Garfield, Elvira, Samantha, Sushi, Jinx, Patches (I, II, and III), and Mocha. If I ever acquire another cat, I'm going to name her Caroline!
ReplyDeleteHi there Gloria, glad you're finally able to post! You need an RV'ing kitty BTW.
DeletePast: Sugar was our first cat. She was white with a gray spot on her head. Then there was Vic (Very Important Cat= Vic), Sasha, Sax, Phoebe, Buttons, Muffin, Marbles, Smokey, Chaos, Tigger, Junior, Ginger, Peaches, Ozzy, Oscar, Sky, Cleobelle, and Rascal.
ReplyDeleteCurrent: Misty, Tiger, Rambo, and Orange.
In case you can't tell, we love cats and always have.
Wow. That's a LOT of kitties!!
DeleteI just came over from Susan's!
ReplyDeleteCats: Misty, Henry, Lucy, Sissy, Magilla, Rosie, Sylvie, Rascal, Catzee (short for Little Cat Zee), Katie, and current is Riley. :)
I love James Herriot, BTW. Our library has all the episodes from the TV program and we check those out regularly too.
I had no idea there was a tv show! I'll have to ask our library if they have it!
DeleteWell, you don't have to enter me because I have actually read both of those books...but Cats...well, who we have now is Charlie, Sammy, Ragadoon, RoyDog, Black Peanut Butter Walnut, Bobbi, Barnie, Wee Dung, and Ditch. If you wanted me to list the ones we've had...even in the past ten years, the computer would puke out. ;) Great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy, that's a lot of cats you have. Is that what Big Red is for???
DeleteAfter reading some of the other names of folks cats somehow I don't feel so bad about my "originality". Our current "lady of the house" is MissKitty. There was another I called Miss B (Can you guess what the B stood for?)
ReplyDeleteUhm, Miss BE-utiful!!?? Right? Right. We'll just say so. :)
DeleteSnicker Doodle (now known as The Dude when we discovered she was a he), Jackson, Beatrix/Bit/Fuzzy (she's not sure what her name is anymore), Thomas, Sophia
ReplyDeleteNothing like a cat with a personality complex!
DeletePrissy (Pricilla Diane), Kitty, Kitty's Sister, Cali (Calico Rose), and Morris
ReplyDeleteWhat would Kitty's Sister's Uncle's Cousin be called? :)
