That Summer is finally loosening it's grip?
Yesterday morning I was outside doing barn chores. There was a layer of fog covering everything and when I got back inside, I had the sudden urge to have some tea. Not my normal glass of iced tea, but this:
Hot tea! Vanilla Caramel Truffle Shouldn't Really Be Called Tea, cup of tea!
Of course, as the day wore on and the temps came up, I almost forgot I had downed a 125 degree cup of liquid just hours earlier.
Our daytime highs are only supposed to be in the mid to upper 80's this week. This weekend was so beautifully warm (as opposed to scorching hot) that Rhiannon and I took a picnic lunch down to the river.
Paul, as usual, worked on the homestead this weekend splitting wood (can you even imagine starting the stove in this weather??), mowing the weeds (i.e. lawn) and other miscellaneous farmstuff including constructing a shelter for our round bales. I'll do a post on the hay hoop shelter in my next post.
Got to get going. Weather is too nice to be sitting inside :)
Isn't it wonderful! We have been cooling down for a couple of weeks and I am loving it :) Enjoy!ReplyDelete
CR, The weather sure has changed. When I look around on the property and local areas, I've noticed all the dead grass, leaves falling from trees and the dullness as if winter is starting to set in. I'm worried we may have a harsh winter this year and that's a scary thing. Instead of tea, I had to have some coffee with all kinds of caffeine to help the headache. It worked, now I just need to get motivated to work do some work on the property outside. It's so pretty out, I don't feel like pulling branches and cutting weeds,lol.....ReplyDelete
Have a good day.
Well, let's hope so! I just recently changed from iced coffee to hot. It was 41 degrees a couple of mornings ago! Heaven! So, that's the deal, is it? You and Rhiannon go picnicking and Paul slaves away....? Sign me up!ReplyDelete
Yep, don't look now but fall is actually creeping up on us. And I LOVE it! We're supposed to have a warm day tomorrow (which means up into the 80s now) but then a cool down on Thursday. All of a sudden the iced coffee doesn't have quite the same appeal, does it?ReplyDelete
It was 75 here this morning at 7:45, 96 when I got home :( I'm ready for Fall!ReplyDelete
It was 52 degrees here yesterday morning!!! I made coffee for the first time in 4 months......ReplyDelete
I had the windows open last night and experienced something I haven't felt in many, many months... I actually got cold!ReplyDelete
I have been suffering through the summer with my morning hot tea. I have to have it. Nothing like the sweats to start the day. But I am like you and are soooooo enjoying my a.m. hot tea with this cooler start to the day.ReplyDelete
It was rainy and cool here this morning, we don't usually get morning rain this time of year. It was WONDERFUL!! :)ReplyDelete
but, but, but.... it's in a CAT CUP! LOL... Seriously though, I hope you can enjoy some great weather, and send it our way next!ReplyDelete
We have just been able to start sleeping with the windows open again. I hate, hate, hate A/C, but the rest of the family "requires" it - but now the windows are open and I am a happy camper. It is 1 am here and 60 degrees outside. ::skippyhappydance:: and it smells so good after a night rain.ReplyDelete
PS - no we didn't "kick Bert to the curb" - the dealer wanted more for the car than it was worth - and I didn't think it was smart to pay it. So Bert stayed put and we got an awesome deal on Oscar. [I didn't know how to email you - hope you don't mind I put it here. I just love the "kick to the curb" - how apropos. :)]
Enjoy your cooler weather.
