Saturday Oven Lovin

I got my oven back!  So here's my contribution to Tiny Gardener's Saturday Oven Lovin:

Homemade Soft Pretzels

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/buttery-soft-pretzels/

Yes, it's a link, sorry.  Nothing original.  But here's a picture of the goods:

The person who posted the recipe does mention that it's a sweet pretzel and I'd definiately agree.  Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but next time I think I'd reduce the sugar to a 1/3 or even 1/4 cup of sugar.  As is though, I think it would have been good with a sprinkling of cinnamon and sugar instead of the Kosher salt.

  1. Well, I would say that yummy-looking pile of pretzels just proves the recipe you linked to is a good one! I just may be making these soon....

    Thank you. :)

  4. OK, Here's my question. When do I get a "Saturday" invite to your place? Salty and sweet? Can't go wrong with that!

  6. Those look so good! I don't think I've ever had a sweet pretzel. Might be a good on the go breakfast. :)

  7. Mooberry, not all things yummy "looking" are yummy around here :) But all in all, they were pretty good for a sweet pretzel.

Tiny Gardener, I think I waited ten minutes after Paul put the heating element in the oven to bake something.....cookies, of course!

Candy C., I though they looked a little "puffy", but they tasted good enough for a first-time pretzel maker.

Tom, You'd have to fight Paul & Rhiannon for dibs on the home cooking!

Hoosier Girl, thanks! They were :)

gld, I was eyeing your recipe for bagels last week (or was it the week before?) and meant to make them soon. I LOVE bagels!

    Kristina, Thanks! :)

Leigh, It would be good with some sweet topping instead of the salt for a breakfast treat.
